A closer look.
Tucked away in Kiambu County, just a few minutes' drive from Nairobi's Central Business District, Paradise Lost is a 54-acre haven nestled among sprawling coffee plantations and lush indigenous forest. Its rich blend of habitats ranging from riverine woodlands and tranquil wetlands to artificial lakes and farm edges makes it an exceptional urban hotspot for birdwatchers, wildlife photographers, and eco-tourists alike.
Our day begins in Nairobi with a scenic drive toward the estate, making several birding stops along the way. Upon arrival, we will explore a variety of habitats, including the coffee farm, landscaped gardens, local wetlands, and surrounding forest canopy.
Adding to the magic of "Paradise Lost" are its breathtaking ancient caves, believed to date back to the Old Stone Age and famously used as hideouts during Kenya's freedom struggle. Home to local bat colonies, these caves offer a safe, fascinating walk-through natural history.
